About the Northern VA Joint Training Coalition
The Northern Virginia Joint Training Coalition represents agencies and programs licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) that provide services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, or substance-use disorders throughout the region. The Coalition has worked together since September 2003 to consolidate and standardize staff training efforts that meet many of the mandatory training requirements. Since its inception, the Coalition’s efforts resulted in time and cost efficiencies for both employees and employers.
Mission
To provide ongoing mandatory training and work to offer enrichment training for the Northern Virginia region through a coordinated coalition committed to developing and supporting a well-trained workforce who serve persons with disabilities as well as others served by the Northern Virginia regional network.
Values
The Coalition will meet its mission through the implementation of the following:
- Delivering services at or above industry standards.
- Maximizing upon available training and financial resources.
- Coordinating accessible training resources in a timely fashion.
- Offering training, which acknowledges the diversity in the workforce’s literacy, educational and cultural backgrounds with materials and curricula that accommodate those diversities.
- Providing competency-based training.
Training
The Coalition offers many required training, some of which can be completed online, and are available to employees of agencies that are active members of the Coalition. Classes provided include but are not limited to:
- Human Rights
- Behavior Management
- Incident Report Writing
- Medicaid Waiver Staff Orientation
- Standard Precautions
- Medication Management
- And more
Training Enrollment
Is this your first time to the Northern Virginia Joint Training Coalition Web site? Please take a moment to become familiar with the site by clicking the links on the left. You will find a description of training being offered by participating agencies and a calendar of classes. There are also links for online training and special events.
If you would like to register for any of the training, you must be an employee of an agency that is a member of the Coalition and you can determine that by going to the “Agency Directory” page. You then must create an account by going to the “Login” and click on “New User” link. Please select your agency from the drop down menu and use your agency E-mail address if you have one. Complete the fields and click the submit button. A request for approval for an account will go to your Coalition representative and upon approval you will be able to enroll for training.
Registering for Training
Select a training that you would like to attend from the “Class Calendar” page. If you have not yet logged in, you must do so at this time. If you are registering yourself for the class, just click the “Register Me” button. In order to register someone else, fill in the field under “Register another individual” and select your agency. If after registration you are unable to attend any training in which you are registered, please cancel your enrollment.
